Fake phone auction depletes savings of 18-year-old from Łask county
According to Google News PL — Crime (pl), on 25 August 2026 an 18-year-old resident of Łask county reported to the District Police Command in Łask that she had been the victim of an online scam.
The woman found an advertisement on a sales platform for a premium smartphone priced at 3,600 zloty — approximately 40 per cent below market price. She considered the offer to be a bargain and contacted the seller. The seller agreed to reduce the price by a further 100 zloty.
When the woman confirmed her intention to purchase, the seller sent her a link to an alleged auction on another popular sales website. The victim made the payment using one of the popular mobile payment methods.
After logging into her account directly on the website, she noticed that no order appeared in her purchase history. Contact with the seller ceased immediately. She then realised she had been the victim of a scam.
Police officers from Łask remind the public that an exceptionally attractive price can be bait set by criminals. All links sent by sellers outside the official platform system should be treated with great caution, and payments should be made exclusively through verified transaction channels.
