The District Prosecutor's Office in Jelenia Góra has announced the detention of a young man who allegedly deceived three people by persuading them to invest in a fictitious property deal.

Prosecutor Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska, spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Jelenia Góra, announced the arrest of a 23-year-old resident of the city. The local court agreed to impose a three-month custodial remand on the recommendation of investigators.
The young man has been charged with causing three people to dispose of their property in a manner detrimental to their interests. The total value of losses exceeds one million eight hundred thousand zloty.
According to statements from officers, the suspect met the victims while working as a fitness instructor at a local gymnasium. In May and June of this year, he persuaded three of his clients to transfer money for the alleged joint purchase of a property. The victims took out loans and borrowed money, then transferred funds to the suspect's bank account.
Evidence indicates that the investment plan was fictitious from the outset. The perpetrator had no intention of purchasing any property.
The detainee denies guilt, although he has provided a statement. He has no previous convictions. The criminal code provides for a sentence of twelve months to ten years' imprisonment for this type of offence.
The investigation is ongoing. Officers suspect that the 23-year-old may have had accomplices and that the list of victims may be longer.
