The young man exploited a moment of inattention from the cashier and pulled money from the open till drawer. He took over a thousand zloty, and tore up some of the banknotes. Police officers detained him after several minutes. It turned out he was also wanted by the court.

On Thursday evening, a theft of money occurred at a grocery shop in the centre of Milicz. The 24-year-old perpetrator took advantage of the moment when the shop assistant opened the till to grab the banknotes inside and flee.
The incident occurred shortly before twenty-three o'clock. The man entered the shop and waited for a suitable opportunity. When the female employee opened the drawer with the money, the attacker reached across the counter, grabbed what was inside, and ran outside. The woman tried to stop him, but the thief managed to escape. The value of the stolen banknotes exceeded one thousand zloty.
Officers from the Milicz police station analysed footage from surveillance cameras and quickly recognised a person familiar from previous interventions. A resident of a nearby village was found just several minutes after the report was made. When he noticed the police vehicle, he tried to hide under a car standing by the road, but was discovered and detained.
During a search of the detainee, several dozen ten-zloty notes in a torn state were found, as well as a few intact ones. When checking his personal details against databases, it emerged that the District Court in Milicz was looking for him. The warrant concerned taking him to a penal institution.
The next day, he was charged with audacious theft. Due to the court warrant in force against him, police officers transported him to the Remand Centre in Wrocław, where he is to serve a sentence in a separate criminal case.
