Officers from the Podlaskie Border Guard conducted a joint operation with the National Revenue Administration at the Transshipment Terminal in Budzisk. During an inspection of an articulated lorry vehicle, it was discovered that its cargo hold concealed twenty-seven citizens of third countries.
The man driving the vehicle is from Romania. The vehicle was travelling on roads with Romanian registration plates. Inside the trailer were people from three Asian and African countries: Somalia, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The foreign nationals attempted in this way to enter Polish territory from Lithuania, bypassing passport control points. All were detained for clarification proceedings.
Administrative procedures are currently underway against them. After their completion, state institutions will take further steps in accordance with applicable law, said Major Anna Sobieska-Tekień, spokesperson for the Border Guard post, in an interview with journalists.
The matter is being handled by the appropriate authorities.
