41-year-old from Kłodzko County convicted of breaching lifetime driving ban
The man drove a car despite a lifetime court-imposed driving ban. The District Court in Kłodzko convicted him the following day in an expedited procedure.
Verdict within 24 hours of arrest for driving despite ban
The District Court in Kłodzko sentenced a 41-year-old resident of Kłodzko County to three months' imprisonment for driving a passenger car in breach of a final, lifetime ban on operating motor vehicles – according to klodzko.policja.gov.pl. The verdict was delivered in expedited proceedings, just one day after the crime was committed.
The arrest took place in the territory of Nowa Ruda Municipality. Officers from the Police Station in Nowa Ruda apprehended the man in flagrante delicto whilst driving a passenger car, despite being subject to a court ban on operating all motor vehicles – imposed for life.
Last Thursday, the day after the incident, the District Court in Kłodzko examined the case in expedited proceedings and found the 41-year-old guilty of the alleged offence. In addition to the three-month sentence, the court imposed a lifetime ban on operating motor vehicles and ordered him to pay 10,000 zlotys to the Fund for Assistance to Victims and Post-Penitentiary Assistance.
Expedited proceedings – provided for in Articles 517a et seq. of the Code of Criminal Procedure – mean that the court conducts proceedings and delivers a verdict against the suspect within 24 hours of a motion being filed. Police emphasise that it is applied precisely to persons driving "under a court ban" and guarantees the inevitability of punishment.
Wioletta Martuszewska, chief press officer of the District Police Command in Kłodzko, recalled that operating a vehicle in breach of a court ban constitutes a serious crime that poses a genuine threat to the life and health of other road users. Police announced consistent enforcement of the regulations and removal from traffic of persons violating applicable bans.
