According to the investigation findings, a few days earlier the suspect allegedly lured his stepson away from the flat by deception, and then held him against his will. He allegedly used physical violence against the boy and made threats against him. Earlier, the same man had also threatened his own wife — the court had issued him a restraining order prohibiting him from approaching or contacting her.
When information about the incident reached the Legnica officers, they immediately launched intensive operational activities. They quickly established that the 44-year-old had left Legnica. Police officers from Wrocław joined the operation, and together analysed the information gathered. The trail led to Karpacz — it was there that the officers established the man's exact whereabouts and carried out his detention.
After being taken to Legnica, he was charged with unlawful deprivation of liberty, criminal threats against his wife and stepson, and violation of the court order prohibiting him from approaching his spouse. The man has an extensive criminal history — he had previously been convicted of offences against life and health.
At the request of the prosecutor, the court decided on remand in custody for the suspect. The 44-year-old will spend the next three months in custody.
