Police officers from Tarnów arrested a repeat offender who, using a false story, defrauded a resident of Tarnów county of nearly 350,000 zlotys. The court decided to remand him in custody for three months.

In Tarnów, police officers arrested a man who had obtained a large sum of money from an elderly local resident through deception. The victim lost nearly three hundred and fifty thousand zlotys. The court decided to imprison the perpetrator for three months.
The entire incident occurred on 12 June of this year. A stranger called the woman, impersonating someone close to her. By exploiting her trust and constructing a fabricated, dramatic story, he persuaded her to hand over cash. The victim, believing the story to be true, gave the money.
Following the report made by the victim, officers immediately undertook extensive action. They analysed the gathered evidence, checked the information obtained, and conducted operational work. These steps made it possible to identify and locate the suspected perpetrator.
On 17 June 2026, police officers apprehended the suspect in the Świętokrzyskie voivodeship. He turned out to be a 45-year-old man with an extensive criminal record – previously convicted multiple times for crimes against property.
The man was taken to the Tarnów district prosecutor's office, where he was informed of charges of fraud. The case was subsequently taken up by the District Court in Tarnów. The prosecutor requested the application of a precautionary measure in the form of temporary arrest. The judge granted this request and decided to remand the suspect in custody for three months.
