CBA agents secure documents at Southern Hospital and Warsaw offices
Officers from the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau have conducted operations at several Warsaw institutions, including the Southern Hospital, on the orders of the prosecutor's office – according to rmf24.pl.
The searches also covered the headquarters of the capital's city hall and the Ursus district office. As spokesperson for the minister coordinating special services Jacek Dobrzyński informed, the secured files will now undergo detailed analysis. At this stage, no additional details are being disclosed.
The District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw noted that such actions will be continued. Evidence materials are being gathered and checked systematically.
The scandal surrounding the medical facility erupted following reports by the zero.pl portal. They indicated that Dawid Kacprzyk – coordinator of the emergency department at the Southern Hospital and councillor representing Civic Coalition in Ursus – may have earned 1.6 million złoty last year at various medical facilities whilst simultaneously completing a specialisation in anaesthesiology.
According to the journalists' findings, on the ward under Kacprzyk's care, Civic Coalition politicians were allegedly given priority admission and rapid test procedures.
Investigators are examining two matters. The first is suspicion of fraud in an amount exceeding 500,000 złoty. The second concerns abuse of authority by a person holding public office, in particular the violation of triage procedures when qualifying patients for the emergency department.
Following disclosure of information by the media, Kacprzyk withdrew from the party, relinquished his council mandate and returned part of the remuneration he had received to the facility.
