Officers of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau have detained two former members of the board of the Polish National Foundation. The operation was carried out at the request of the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Rzeszów.
One of those detained — Cezary J. — was questioned as a suspect and subsequently released. Investigators imposed police supervision on him, a ban on leaving the country, and confiscated his passport document. The second person, Maciej Ś., remained in questioning.
Details of the charges have not been disclosed. A spokesman for the minister coordinating special services indicated that the investigation concerns the period when both men were managing the foundation.
The Polish National Foundation was established in 2016 on the initiative of state-controlled companies. It was to engage in the promotion of the country abroad. In 2017, the foundation financed a "Fair Courts" campaign, which the opposition accused of having a political character.
