Dealer from Wołomin arrested – drugs sold to minors
Otwock criminal investigators detained a 40-year-old resident of Wołomin suspected of drug trafficking and supplying intoxicating substances to minors, according to otwock.policja.gov.pl. At the request of the District Prosecutor's Office in Otwock, the court ordered pre-trial detention of the man for three months.
The case emerged from operational activities conducted by the Otwock unit tackling drug-related crime. Officers came across a man who was allegedly supplying drugs to minors from the Otwock county area.
Flat converted into drug storage
Meticulous operational work led police officers directly to the suspect's flat in Wołomin. The 40-year-old was detained on the spot. During a search of the premises, officers secured large quantities of illegal substances:
- nearly 360 g of marijuana
- 42 g of amphetamine
- 7 g of cocaine
- 9 g of MDMA
- 4 g of mephedrone
- LSD tablets
All secured material was sent for laboratory testing.
Charges and court decision
The District Prosecutor's Office in Otwock launched an investigation. After reviewing the gathered evidence, the prosecutor presented the detainee with two charges: participation in trafficking a large quantity of intoxicating substances and psychotropic substances, and supplying drugs to a minor.
In view of the severity of the potential penalty and concerns about obstruction, the prosecutor filed a motion with the District Court in Otwock requesting the most stringent preventive measure. The court fully agreed with the prosecutor's arguments and remanded the man in custody for three months. The suspect faces up to 20 years' imprisonment for the alleged offences.
Priorities of Otwock investigators
Otwock criminal investigators emphasise that combating drug-related crime – especially when drugs reach the hands of minors – is among their main priorities. Intoxicating substances have an exceptionally destructive effect on developing organisms, can cause irreversible neurological changes and may lead young people to commit prohibited acts. Thanks to cooperation between Otwock investigators and the District Prosecutor's Office in Otwock, the secured substances will not reach any minor.
