Knife attack on 23-year-old in Rzeszów – mother's partner remanded in custody for 3 months

Google News PL — Crime (pl) reports that a 35-year-old resident of Rzeszów will spend the next three months in remand custody after stabbing a 23-year-old in the chest area early on Saturday.
The incident took place outside one of the blocks on Paderewskiego Street. According to police enquiries, during a verbal altercation, the 35-year-old — the mother's partner of the victim — allegedly attacked the younger man with a sharp implement. The injured 23-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The city duty officer was notified of the incident on Saturday after 4 a.m. The dispatcher for the emergency number 112 reported that there was a man with a stab wound requiring assistance on al. Kopisto. Officers found a medical rescue team already providing assistance to the injured party at the scene.
Roughly a quarter of an hour after the attack, officers detained the assailant at the indicated address. A sobriety check showed the 35-year-old had nearly 1.7 milligrams of alcohol per millilitre of blood. The man was taken to the police detention facility.
Crime scene examination was carried out by police officers, and a forensic technician secured traces. The case was taken up by officers from the commissariat on Nowe Miasto, who passed the collected evidence to the District Prosecutor's Office for the city of Rzeszów.
On Monday, the prosecutor filed a motion with the District Court for the remand in custody of the suspect. The court granted the motion. For the committed offence, the 35-year-old faces a sentence of up to 20 years imprisonment.
