Knife attack on priests in Jarosław: court remands Ihor M. for three months
A 31-year-old Ukrainian citizen suspected of a knife attack on priests at a monastery in Jarosław has been remanded in custody. The man is suffering from acute psychosis and will be placed in a secure hospital facility.

The District Court in Jarosław decided on Saturday to remand Ihor M., a 31-year-old Ukrainian citizen suspected of a brutal knife attack at a monastery there, in custody. According to wiadomosci.wp.pl, the hearing took place on 26 September at 13:30.
The District Prosecutor's Office in Jarosław requested a three-month custodial sentence. The court granted this request. "The court upheld the prosecutor's request and remanded the suspect in custody for a period of three months, namely until 23 December 2026," informed the media prosecutor Bożena Harasz-Wołoszyn from the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Przemyśl.
Ihor M. did not attend the hearing due to acute psychosis. The remand will be served under hospital conditions. Prosecutor Harasz-Wołoszyn did not disclose the name of the facility, indicating only that "it is undoubtedly a medical facility with a secure ward."
The attack took place on Thursday at the Centre for the Formation of Christian Culture at the monastery of Benedictine sisters in Jarosław in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship. Shortly before the start of mass, the attacker stabbed three priests and two believers with a knife. One of the attacked priests died after being taken to hospital. The perpetrator was apprehended at the scene of the crime.
