Former KRRiT president released from custody after charges in PFN case
Maciej Świrski, who previously headed the National Broadcasting Council, left custody after being presented with charges by the prosecution. The matter concerns the "Fair Courts" campaign conducted by the Polish National Foundation. He posted a brief statement online: "I am free".
The detention of the former KRRiT president was carried out by agents of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau. Świrski was informed of charges concerning the financing of the "Fair Courts" information campaign, conducted by the PFN.
Details of the charges against him and any bail amount have not been disclosed. The prosecution has not provided a full scope of the charges at this stage.
The matter of financing the "Fair Courts" campaign has long been of interest to law enforcement authorities. The PFN was responsible for implementing this initiative, which aimed to present the public with changes in the Polish justice system.
Świrski held the position of KRRiT president in 2006–2011. After leaving custody, he posted a brief message on social media, informing of having regained his freedom.
