Former NIK Head Accused of Disclosing Tax Secret
The prosecution has filed an indictment in court against the former head of the Supreme Audit Office and two co-accused in a case involving the illegal disclosure of tax data.
Former NIK Head Accused of Disclosing Tax Secret
The former head of the Supreme Audit Office, together with two other people, appeared before court in connection with the illegal disclosure of information protected by tax confidentiality. The Białystok Prosecution Office filed an indictment with the Kraków court against Marian B., former president of the NIK, Tadeusz G., former director of the Kraków Chamber of Tax Administration, and Beata O., former director of the Warsaw branch of state control.
Investigators established that Tadeusz G., as a person obligated to maintain confidentiality in tax matters, passed data obtained during the performance of his official duties to an unauthorised person. The information concerned activities conducted by the Kraków tax office, and its disclosure was intended to help another perpetrator avoid criminal liability.
Marian B. was accused of inciting Tadeusz G. to pass on this data. Beata O. is accused of encouraging the official to breach service confidentiality. According to the prosecution, the woman acted on the orders of the former NIK president.
During the investigation, evidence was collected including the contents of the accused's email boxes, data from their phones, witness statements and explanations from the interested parties themselves. Tadeusz G. faced six charges, mainly related to the unauthorised disclosure of protected information.
All three face imprisonment.
