Agents of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau have detained Maciej Świrski, who served as president of the Polish National Foundation during the Law and Justice government. The detention is connected to an investigation concerning the "Fair Courts" campaign, organised by PFN during his leadership.

Świrski was regarded as the foundation's éminence grise and a key figure in its structures. The "Fair Courts" campaign was one of PFN's most high-profile initiatives, conducted at a time when the foundation operated under the auspices of ministries controlled by Law and Justice.

As part of CBA operations, an apartment was also searched belonging to a director in the office of President Karol Nawrocki. The anti-corruption operation concerned expenditure by the Polish National Foundation during the period when it remained under the political influence of the previous governing team.

Details of the charges and the scope of the investigation have not yet been officially disclosed. The case is at an preliminary stage of proceedings.
