Fourfold murder in Skawina: Father killed wife, mother-in-law and eight-day-old daughter, then took his own life
Officers discovered the bodies of four people in a flat in Skawina on Friday: a 35-year-old man, his wife (27 years old), his mother-in-law (59 years old) and a newborn who had been born just eight days earlier. Officers arrived after a report from the husband of the 59-year-old — the man was concerned that he had been unable to reach his wife for some time.
Based on the investigation, it has been established that the father of the family caused the deaths of three victims and then ended his own life. The incident occurred between Thursday evening and Friday afternoon.
"The women had skull injuries caused by blows from a hard implement. All victims also had visible cuts and stab wounds," explained prosecutor Tomasz Waszczuk from the Kraków Regional Prosecutor's Office in a statement to TVN24. According to information provided by Radio Eska, the perpetrator used a sharp implement that officers found inside the flat.
Police officers and firefighters who participated in operations at the scene of the tragedy were referred for consultation with a mental health specialist.
The reason why the man committed the massacre remains unknown. Investigators do not exclude the possibility that at the time of committing the act the perpetrator may have been under the influence of psychoactive substances.
One of the family's acquaintances told "Fakt" that he viewed the 35-year-old as a caring person who was engaged in anticipation of the birth of a child. "We did not see any signs that something was wrong, that he was struggling with mental health problems," he said.
