Lifetime driving ban ignored: two drivers stopped near Tczew

A 33-year-old with a lifetime driving ban sentenced to 6 months in prison. A few days later, police stopped a 50-year-old with his fifth broken ban.

Lifetime driving ban did not stop the driver – court ordered prison and fine

Google News PL — Crime (pl) reports that officers from Subkowce Police Station stopped a 33-year-old man driving a Volkswagen for a traffic check. Verification of data in police systems revealed that the Tczew District Court had issued the driver a lifetime ban on operating all motor vehicles – in effect since 2019.

This was not the first instance of violating this ban. Previously, the man had operated vehicles despite court restrictions, and also drove under the influence of alcohol. After his arrest, the 33-year-old was taken into police custody and subsequently appeared before the court in an expedited proceeding. The court sentenced him to 6 months in prison and a fine of 10,000 złotys. Until the sentence becomes final, the man is subject to police supervision.

Five bans on record – and another violation

The second incident occurred on 2 September. Officers from the Patrol and Intervention Unit stopped a Volkswagen driven by a 50-year-old resident of Tczew. The check revealed that the man was subject to a 36-month ban on operating all motor vehicles.

Officers established that this was already the fifth ban on the 50-year-old's record. The Volkswagen was towed to the police impound. After completing the necessary procedural steps, the driver was taken into custody and subsequently brought to the District Prosecutor's Office in Tczew. The prosecutor charged him with violating a court ban on operating vehicles and applied police supervision as a preventive measure.

A ban is a mandate – police remind of consequences

A court-issued driving ban is a legally binding ruling, not a recommendation. Violating it results in criminal liability, which can mean arrest, a substantial fine, and imprisonment. Police appeal to all those subject to such a ban to comply with it absolutely, emphasising the danger they pose to other road users.
