Bodies of son and mother found in block in Kutno
On Tuesday, police officers forcibly entered a flat in a block on Chodkiewicza Street in Kutno (Łódź Voivodeship) and discovered the bodies of two people, Interia reported. The report was filed by neighbours who were alarmed by an unpleasant smell on the stairwell.
"The bodies of two people were found inside the flat," said Daria Olczyk, press officer for the District Police Command in Kutno.
The bodies were in an advanced state of decomposition, according to the Panorama Kutna portal. Investigative procedures were carried out at the scene to establish the circumstances and cause of death. The investigation is being conducted by the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Łódź.
Paweł Jasiak, spokesman for the Łódź prosecutor's office, informed that the victims are a 22-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman.
"If their identity is confirmed, they were mother and son," said prosecutor Jasiak.
The prosecutor emphasised that nothing suggests a murder committed by an outside person. The main theory being considered is so-called extended suicide. Two stab wounds were found on the man's body.
The exact causes of death of both people will be established following an autopsy.
