At the Medyka border crossing, Border Guard officers detained a 25-year-old French citizen. The man was registered in the system as a wanted person on the basis of a European Arrest Warrant issued by the judicial authorities of his country.
According to information provided by the services, the Frenchman is suspected of involvement in an organised criminal group engaged in illegal arms and ammunition trafficking. European law enforcement agencies had pursued him in numerous countries across the continent, and his detention took place at the Polish border.
Following his detention, the man was handed over to the prosecution service, which will take further steps related to his extradition to France. The case is being conducted within the framework of international cooperation between law enforcement bodies.
