A serious road incident occurred during the night of 2 to 3 July in Kamieniec Ząbkowicki municipality in Lower Silesia. Around 22.00 the duty officer at the local police station received a report of a passenger car that had left the road, overturned and ended up in a ditch.
A patrol was sent to the scene. Police officers found a 50-year-old man from Inowrocław county driving a Skoda. According to preliminary findings, the driver lost control of the vehicle, veered off the road, and the car subsequently overturned.
An alcohol breathalyser test showed a result of nearly one breath alcohol unit. During the intervention, officers found a small amount of amphetamine in his possession. Blood samples were taken for further testing for intoxicating substances.
A check revealed that the man did not have a driving licence. Additionally, it emerged that the vehicle was not insured in respect of third-party liability, and its technical inspection had expired.
The perpetrator will face charges for driving under the influence of alcohol and for drug possession. He will also be held liable for traffic offences: creating a hazard in traffic, driving without authorisation, lack of insurance and failure to undergo technical inspection.
