Kłodzko: 14 kilogrammes of drugs seized by police. Man in custody
On Monday, uniformed officers from the county police headquarters in Kłodzko were patrolling an area where large quantities of narcotics had been discovered several months earlier. Near a garage building that had previously come to the attention of the authorities, the officers spotted a young man.
The 28-year-old resident of Kłodzko county was behaving in a manner that aroused suspicion. Police officers intervened and during an identity check found a small amount of illegal substance on him. The information gathered and knowledge of the local criminal underworld prompted the officers to call for support from the Criminal Investigation Department.
The suspect insisted he had no connection to the garage, did not have keys and did not use the premises. Nevertheless, the criminal investigators decided on a forced entry. Inside the premises, significant quantities of narcotics were discovered: mephedrone, methamphetamine and marijuana packaged in jars, bags and plastic sachets. The total weight of the seized goods was fourteen kilogrammes.
Additionally, pseudoephedrine – a substance used in the manufacture of methamphetamine – was found in the garage, as well as three electronic scales. Everything was sent to a laboratory for detailed analysis.
A personal search of the detainee conducted at the headquarters proved decisive for the case. Officers found keys to the garage carefully hidden in underwear, attached to a clothing elastic. This discovery contradicted the man's earlier assurances.
The District Prosecutor in Kłodzko charged the 28-year-old with possessing a significant quantity of narcotics. The court imposed a three-month remand in custody on him. This offence carries a sentence of up to ten years' imprisonment.
Investigators are establishing the source of the narcotics and are checking whether the detainee was involved in their distribution.
