Woman held by father in Kraków flat for 30 years. Tragedy revealed through notes
Magdalena K. from Kraków spent nearly three decades in complete isolation, never leaving home. Her father was responsible for this fate. The case came to light thanks to notes that her mother threw out of the window.
Neighbours found messages thrown out of the window, which led to the discovery of a family tragedy. The woman lived in confinement for nearly 30 years, deprived of contact with the outside world.
Magdalena's father admitted guilt in a conversation with the media. "It is my fault, I regret it. Magda was active as a child, I wanted to sign her up for tennis. After primary school she somehow stopped leaving the house and that is how it remained," he explained.
Details regarding potential charges and proceedings conducted by the prosecutor's office have not yet been made public. However, the case has aroused considerable interest owing to the scale and duration of the isolation.
