A 29-year-old from Śmigla stabbed a 30-year-old resident in the back. The court in Kościan imposed a three-month remand in custody. The perpetrator had previously been convicted of robbery and threats.

A brutal assault involving a sharp implement occurred in Śmigla. The District Court in Kościan decided to remand the 29-year-old suspect in custody for a period of three months.
The incident took place on 1 July 2026 after 18:00 on Północna Street. According to the report, the young man attacked another resident of the town, stabbing him in the back. After committing this act, he fled.
Police officers arrived at the scene and established where the attacker had hidden. It turned out that he had barricaded himself in a residential premises. Officers had to force open the door. During the arrest attempt, the 29-year-old resisted, was extremely aggressive and armed with a knife and a telescopic baton. Only the use of a taser allowed him to be subdued.
The injured party received medical care, with doctors performing surgical procedures. Fortunately, there is no threat to his life.
The prosecution presented charges of attempted murder and criminal threats. The accused denied committing the act. The court concluded that there was justified concern of obstruction and decided on his detention.
If convicted, he faces at least a decade of imprisonment, or even life imprisonment. It is worth noting that the perpetrator already has convictions for robberies and threats, and will therefore now be tried as a repeat offender.
