Small profits as bait, then a financial trap – police warn of employment scam
Świętokrzyska Police warn of a new fraud scheme: victims are lured by modest earnings, only to fall into a financial trap instead of finding legitimate work.
Fraud scheme: employment as pretext for extortion
According to Google News PL — Crime (pl), Świętokrzyska police are warning residents against a scam in which criminals use job offers as a tool to extort money.
The mechanism of operation is two-stage. Initially, the victim receives a small payment — sufficient to gain their trust and encourage further action. This is a deliberate tactic designed to make the alleged employment appear credible.
In the next step, the fraudsters persuade the victim to make a payment of their own funds — under various pretexts, such as a "deposit" or "activation fee". In reality, this is a financial trap from which recovering the money is extremely difficult.
Świętokrzyska Police appeal for caution with regard to all job offers requiring advance payments from candidates. Any suspicious proposals should be reported to the nearest police station or via the emergency number.
