Stawiarski denies detention in Zondacrypto scandal, Roman Ż. in custody
The marshal of Lublin Voivodeship Jarosław Stawiarski issued a statement in which he firmly denies reports of his detention in connection with the Zondacrypto scandal.

According to Interia, on Saturday the National Prosecutor's Office confirmed another detention in connection with the Zondacrypto scandal. Roman Ż. — a long-time associate of Sylwester Suszka, the missing founder of the failed cryptocurrency exchange — was taken into custody.
"The detention took place in connection with justified concerns about Roman Ż. fleeing. On the prosecutor's order, a search was conducted at the place where Roman Ż. was detained, as well as at his registered address," the prosecutor's office stated. Investigators secured valuable items and documentation concerning Zondacrypto activities during the operation.
At the same time, some media outlets published unofficial reports of the detention of the marshal of Lublin Voivodeship Jarosław Stawiarski. The prosecutor's office relatively quickly denied this information.
On Sunday, Stawiarski issued an official statement. "In connection with information published by some media outlets about my detention in the Zondacrypto case, I firmly deny that such an action took place," the politician wrote. He added that he is one of many victims of the activities of Przemysław Kral, and on 28 August 2026 he gave testimony at the Prosecutor's Office as a witness. He simultaneously stressed his willingness to appear again should there be a need to supplement his testimony.
Already on Saturday, the marshal denied media reports by publishing his photograph online from the stands. "Warm greetings from the Motor — Legia match. Especially for the media that blessed me with the gift of bilocation," he wrote.
Roman Ż. is the next person detained in recent days in this same case. On Friday, the court upheld a request for remand in custody against three other suspects — Anna P., Jaromira W. and Rafał Z., detained on Wednesday and questioned by the prosecutor's office on Thursday. As part of the same investigation, Radosław Piesiewicz, president of the Polish Olympic Committee, was previously arrested.
The prosecutor's office initiated proceedings in the Zondacrypto case in April, investigating large-scale fraud and money laundering. In August, the investigation was combined with the case of Sylwester Suszka's disappearance.
