According to warminsko-mazurska.policja.gov.pl, a 42-year-old resident of Braniewo was detained in connection with the appropriation of a found wallet, and during proceedings with the detainee, officers discovered amphetamine on him.

The case began with a report from another Braniewo resident, who informed police of the loss of a wallet containing documents and cash amounting to 3,000 zlotys. Officers immediately initiated investigative procedures and identified a person suspected of appropriating the property.

Officers from the Criminal Division detained the 42-year-old. During the execution of procedures, they found drugs on him – amphetamine. On the basis of the gathered evidence, the man was charged with two offences: appropriation of found property and possession of intoxicating substances.

The prosecutor applied preventive measures against the suspect in the form of police supervision. The man is obliged to report twice a week at the District Police Headquarters in Braniewo, and has also been subject to a ban on leaving the country and a ban on contacting the victim.

For appropriation of found property, the penalty is a fine, restriction of liberty or imprisonment up to one year. For possession of intoxicating substances, the Anti-Drug Act provides for a penalty of up to three years' imprisonment. The proceedings remain under the supervision of the prosecutor.
