Ministry of Justice notifies prosecution service regarding MP Cieszyński and documents
The Ministry of Justice has referred a complaint to the National Prosecutor's Office regarding MP Janusz Cieszyński, who allegedly removed documents from the ministry's headquarters. The MP denies the accusation and calls on the ministry to search for the "missing decision" within its own office.

The Ministry of Justice has referred a complaint to the National Prosecutor's Office regarding the possibility of a crime being committed by MP Janusz Cieszyński from Rozwój Plus – according to polsatnews.pl. The matter concerns the parliamentarian's intervention at the ministry's headquarters on Friday, during which he allegedly took documents that form part of administrative proceedings files.
In a statement released on Monday, the ministry informed that Cieszyński "removed and took documents from the MS headquarters". Deputy Justice Minister Maria Ejchart, author of the complaint, emphasised that parliamentarians' supervisory powers do not authorise them to arbitrarily take or disseminate documents that form part of proceedings files held by the ministry.
— The matter has been referred to the National Prosecutor's Office for the purpose of legal assessment and taking appropriate steps — Ejchart stressed.
The matter concerns copies of three notes: two handwritten, drawn up by officials of the Prison Service, and a typewritten note from a witness. They constitute an extract from the files of administrative proceedings regarding the removal from the position of Rector-Commandant of the Academy of the Judiciary.
The ministry indicated that the described act may meet the characteristics of an offence under Article 276 of the Penal Code, which provides for a fine, restriction of liberty or deprivation of liberty for up to two years for destroying, concealing or removing a document which the perpetrator has no exclusive right to dispose of.
On Monday, ministry employees allegedly found missing a copy of a directive from the Minister of Justice dated 9 September 2026, concerning the delivery of the minister's decision to Dr Michał Sopiński through the Director General of the Prison Service.
On the X platform, Ejchart also accused Cieszyński of disclosing protected sensitive data of officials. She informed that the Director General of the Prison Service had filed a separate complaint in this matter.
Cieszyński responded the same day, stating that the deputy minister "is not telling the truth". He assured that all data of Prison Service officials had been anonymised, which – as he wrote – "is easy to verify in his posts".
Regarding the missing document, the MP stated that he had been given only a photocopy. "Please search for it in your own office before you order a search" — Cieszyński wrote, addressing the ministry directly.
