Sexual assault on trams in Wrocław. Man remanded in custody
Wrocław police officers have detained a 50-year-old man who, according to investigators, sexually assaulted women travelling on trams. The court decided to remand him in custody for two months.
The incident that led to his detention occurred on 3 July 2026 near Wróblewski Square. According to the wroclaw.pl portal, the man allegedly seized a moment of inattention by a passenger and, without her knowledge or consent, committed a sexual act against her. According to unofficial information, the detained man touched the victim in sensitive areas.
Detectives from the Rakowiec precinct quickly identified the suspect and brought him to police custody. The gathered evidence allowed prosecutors to charge him with fraudulently inducing the victim to submit to a sexual act. The offence carries a sentence of up to eight years in prison.
Investigators believe the man had been travelling on trams and buses for some time, engaging in similar practices against female passengers. Further investigative steps are being conducted in the case. Additional charges are possible.
In connection with this, police are asking all persons who may have been victims of the 50-year-old to come forward at the precinct on Rakowieck Street. The case is being led by senior sergeant Anna Nicer from Wrocław city police headquarters.
Daniel Misiek, the spokesperson for MPK, emphasised that the transport company and law enforcement agencies work together daily. The company makes available recordings from cameras on vehicles for investigative purposes. The cooperation also covers cases of assault on MPK staff or damage to property.
