Nursery carer from Opole faces charges of violence against two-year-old
Prosecutors from the District Prosecutor's Office in Opole have brought criminal charges against one of the carers from a pre-school facility in the city. The woman has been accused of violating the bodily integrity of a two-year-old pupil, whom she is alleged to have physically mistreated.
The crime came to light when the boy's mother and father discovered injuries on his skin indicating the use of force. They reported the matter to officers, who obtained material from the facility's surveillance cameras. The prosecutor's spokesman, Stanisław Bar, stated that one of the recordings shows the moment in which the employee behaves brutally towards the child, including dragging him across the floor. At the time of the incident, she was the only person supervising the group of young children.
On the first day of the week, the suspect appeared before the prosecutor. She denied committing the act. The investigating authorities imposed a series of restrictions on her: police supervision, a ban on leaving the country, and a ban on performing any work related to the care of children and young people.
If the court finds her guilty, she could face up to five years in prison. The proceedings are ongoing.
