"Police officer" scam in Lubin. Woman loses 13,000 zlotys
A resident of Lubin fell victim to a sophisticated scam in which perpetrators impersonated a police officer and bank employee. She lost nearly 13,000 zlotys after providing BLIK codes at the scammers' instruction.

Advanced scam method using video call
According to information from innpoland.pl, a resident of Lubin lost 13,000 zlotys as a result of a scam in which perpetrators utilised a video call and assumed a false police officer identity. The attack scheme was multi-stage and required the involvement of several people impersonating employees of institutions.
The entire incident began with a phone call concerning an alleged attempt to take out a loan in the woman's name. The first caller convinced her that personal data could have leaked and fallen into unauthorised hands. Shortly afterwards, a second man called, presenting himself as a bank employee, who informed her that the matter was already being handled by police and the prosecutor's office.
The scammers also sent the woman a message with false documents purportedly from the prosecutor's office. She then connected with a person claiming to be a police officer. The man appeared on camera in a navy blue polo shirt with the text "Policja" and confirmed the information conveyed earlier, suggesting that the actions were intended to protect her money.
Manipulation using access codes
Under the influence of the scammers' coordinated actions, the woman transferred funds between her own accounts and then provided BLIK codes, believing they were being sent to a special "technical account". The fraud only came to light after the contact ended — when she tried to contact the callers again, none of the numbers responded.
Lower Silesian police warn that perpetrators are increasingly willing to use video images to build trust. During a video call, they can put on clothing resembling a uniform and use terminology that sounds professional. The image can also be easily falsified, and the internet is full of deepfakes.
Police remind that police officers and bank employees never ask for BLIK codes or request transfers to a "technical account". When such a request appears, one should end the call and contact the bank or service independently, using the official number from their card or website.
