A 54-year-old from Pisz was detained during a road check – he had white powder on him and was wanted to serve a sentence. He faces up to 3 years in prison.
Unfastened seatbelts, nervous behaviour and drugs in wallet
Google News PL — Crime (pl) reports that the detention took place during a routine road check in the vicinity of Pisz. Police officers from the District Police Headquarters in Pisz stopped a Volkswagen Golf because the occupants were not wearing seatbelts. The driver received a fine of 100 zlotys and 2 penalty points.
The same penalty was given to the 54-year-old passenger. However, his nervous behaviour aroused the officers' vigilance, and they decided to check his identity in police databases. It turned out that the man was listed in the system as a wanted person – to serve a prison sentence for drug offences.
During the check, the 54-year-old attempted to hide his wallet. Police officers inspected its contents and found a small string bag with white powder and a bundle wrapped in aluminium foil, inside which there were five further bags with an analogous substance – reported superintendent Anna Szypczyńska from the District Police Headquarters in Pisz.
The man told the police officers that he had found these substances during a walk with his dog. He avoided being held in custody by paying an outstanding fine of one thousand zlotys.
The seized substances were sent for laboratory testing. If the analyses confirm that the powder is a narcotic, the Pisz resident will face criminal charges. He faces a penalty of up to 3 years imprisonment.
