According to wiadomosci.wp.pl, 21-year-old Wiktoria D. has been charged after her five-year-old daughter Zosia fell from a window on the 11th floor of a tower block in the Południe housing estate in Włocławek. The prosecutors' office has submitted a request to the court for a three-month remand in custody.
Investigators have charged the woman with exposing a child to direct danger by a person obliged to provide care, combined with unintentionally causing serious bodily harm – under article 160 par. 2 and article 156 par. 2 of the penal code. A spokesperson for the Regional Prosecutors' Office in Włocławek confirmed this legal classification.
According to investigative findings, at the time of the incident the mother was asleep and under the influence of alcohol. Tests showed a blood alcohol level of approximately 1 per mille, which was still rising after her arrest. The prosecutors' office is also investigating whether the woman may have been simultaneously under the influence of drugs – this aspect is to be verified in the course of further investigative proceedings.
Wiktoria D. has admitted her guilt and provided extensive explanations. The prosecutor justified the arrest request on the basis of the nature of the case and the investigative findings to date.
Zosia was transported by air ambulance from the Rescue Air Service to University Hospital No. 1 in Bydgoszcz. A spokesperson for the facility reported that the patient was initially admitted to the trauma centre and then transferred to the intensive care unit. Doctors describe her condition as very serious, but stable.
Pending a court decision, investigators are continuing investigative proceedings, including analysis of evidence and expert opinions. Key importance is attached to the results of toxicological tests and a reconstruction of the events of the Friday morning in the flat on the 11th floor.
