Police have detained five men suspected of robbery that occurred on 30 September this year in Gniezno district — according to police.pl. The perpetrators forced their way into the victim's home, posing as officers of the Police and the Central Bureau of Investigation Police. They carried forged search warrants, police insignia and weapons.
Upon entering the building, the attackers restrained the owner with handcuffs and bound his legs. They threatened him with torture and use of weapons, and then forced him to indicate where money was kept. The perpetrators stole a substantial sum of cash and fled. The victim managed to free himself and notify police.
Officers from the Criminal Division of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Poznań and officers from the Criminal Division of the District Police Headquarters in Gniezno took up the case. The Regional Prosecutor's Office in Słupca has supervised proceedings from the outset. Analysis of evidence material, security footage and forensic traces made it possible to establish the identity of the suspects.
The detentions were carried out on 13 October this year. As a result of house searches, police officers discovered police uniforms, Central Bureau of Investigation Police insignia, bulletproof and tactical vests, replica weapons, knives and tools that could be used to commit crimes — a demolition hammer and wire cutters.
Officers also secured firearms, ammunition of various calibres, explosive materials, electrical detonators, a signal-jamming device, a drone, mobile phones, SIM cards, data storage media and computers. More than 300 grammes of amphetamine and cash exceeding 190,000 zloty were also found in the buildings.
The Prosecutor's Office presented robbery charges to four individuals for joint commission of the crime. One of them, a 59-year-old, received an additional charge of possessing a significant quantity of drugs — amphetamine. The youngest of the suspects, an 18-year-old resident of Września commune, was released and placed under police supervision.
The three remaining suspects — aged 18, 54 and 59 — were brought before the District Court in Słupca. At the prosecutor's request, the court applied temporary arrest for three months against them. They face a prison sentence of 2 to 15 years for robbery, and up to 10 years imprisonment for drug possession. The proceedings are ongoing, and the prosecutor's office is conducting further investigative actions.
