A sum exceeding 500,000 zlotys, which Dawid Kacprzyk committed to transferring to the account of Southern Hospital in Warsaw, never came into the possession of the facility. A spokesman for the Warsaw District Prosecutor's Office explained that the transaction was cancelled and the money was returned to the sender the following day, as the hospital could not record it in its accounts.
The 28-year-old doctor, who previously served on the city council as a representative of the Civic Coalition, became the central figure in a scandal at the capital's medical facility. Portal Zero.pl was the first to reveal information about the alleged favouring of Civic Coalition politicians and their family members when admitting patients to the emergency ward.
Following the scandal, Kacprzyk resigned from his mandate and membership in the party. He also declared his intention to return the funds to the hospital. However, investigative findings suggest that the actual transfer of the money did not take place.
At the medical facility, inspections conducted by officials from the city council and representatives of the National Health Fund continue. On Tuesday, parliamentarians from the Law and Justice party also made a visit. MP Janusz Cieszyński publicly announced that the money was still sitting in the hospital's account, while simultaneously demanding the resignation of the prosecutor's spokesman.
Piotr Antoni Skiba denied these claims. In a statement to Polsat News, he suggested that the MPs may not have had access to the most recent information. "The parliamentary inspection may not have accounted for events that occurred between 17 and 23 June," he explained. He added that the prosecuting authority is conducting proceedings based on currently gathered evidence, though he did not rule out the emergence of new facts from the period in question.
Skiba also emphasised that the case had taken on an excessive media and political dimension. "We are observing numerous attempts to draw the prosecutor's office into political disputes unrelated to the ongoing investigation," he noted, appealing for restraint in public statements.
Investigators are completing the compilation of a list of people who will be summoned for questioning as part of the ongoing inquiry.
