A man from Kłodzko county, who despite a permanent ban on driving vehicles got behind the wheel with almost 1.5 per mille blood alcohol content, was arrested by police and sentenced to six months imprisonment.

Officers from Kłodzko county stopped a fifty-year-old man who disregarded a court ruling. Although the District Court in Kłodzko had imposed a permanent ban on driving any motor vehicles upon him, the man got behind the wheel again. A breathalyser showed almost 1.5 per mille of alcohol in his system.
During a check, police officers established that the driver was acting in conditions of reoffending – he had previously been convicted of similar offences. The ban was issued to him in connection with a previous road traffic offence.
The case went to court on an expedited basis. The court found the man guilty of non-compliance with imposed penal measures. He was sentenced to six months imprisonment and ordered to pay 15,000 złoty to the State Treasury and the Fund for Victims of Crime.
Police emphasise that such behaviour constitutes a real danger to other road users. Any violation of a court ban will be met with an immediate response from the authorities.
Current regulations provide for a sentence of up to three years imprisonment, a fine of up to five thousand złoty, and a ban on driving vehicles for up to ten years for driving under the influence of alcohol.
