Officers from Płock city police discovered illegal tobacco worth over 497,000 zloty in unpaid taxes across Płock and surrounding areas. The 65-year-old owner of the consignment admitted guilt.

Officers from the economic crime unit of Płock police headquarters discovered a man trading in tobacco without the required Polish tax stamps. Following a search conducted on 6 July 2026 across the city and the neighbouring county, 345 kg of cut tobacco and additionally 19 kg of leaf tobacco were seized.
The unpaid excise tax amounted to nearly half a million zloty according to estimates — precisely 497,000 zloty. The detainee is a 65-year-old resident of the region. After charges were brought against him under the Tax Code, he admitted to committing the offence.
The case will now proceed to court. The liability facing the suspect is governed by the law on tax crimes.
