Man suspected of defrauding pensioners arrested in Radom

A 29-year-old man was arrested by detectives from Zwoleń police headquarters in cooperation with officers from Radom. The suspect was allegedly involved in a scheme to defraud elderly people by impersonating a police officer using a false identity.

The incident took place in May of this year in Zwoleń district. Two elderly women lost a total of over 130,000 złoty. The fraudster posed as a police officer and coerced them to hand over cash.

The role of the arrested man was to physically collect the money from the victims. Officers established his identity and arrested him on 7 July 2026 in Radom.

During questioning, he admitted to the charges against him. The district prosecutor's office in Zwoleń requested that he be remanded in custody. The district court approved the request and decided to remand the suspect in custody for three months.

The criminal code provides for a sentence of up to eight years' imprisonment for this type of crime.
