A 44-year-old woman set fire to her mother-in-law's farm buildings after a family row. Damage was estimated at approximately 30,000 zlotys.
Fire in Uchanie municipality: revenge on mother-in-law costs 30,000 zlotys
The fire occurred last Sunday after 10 p.m. at one of the farms in Uchanie municipality in Hrubieszów county, Lubelskie voivodeship, according to farmer.pl. The flames engulfed farm buildings containing firewood and garden, construction and workshop tools.
When the fire brigade arrived at the scene, the wooden building was already fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters focused on preventing the spread of the fire and extinguishing the remains. The property owner estimated the damage at approximately 30,000 zlotys.
Both firefighters and police officers suspected deliberate arson from the outset. Officers from the Trzeszczany Police Station established the identity of the perpetrator and arrested the 44-year-old woman. During the investigation, it emerged that the same day a serious row had taken place between the woman and her husband's family. She decided to take revenge on her mother-in-law by setting fire to her buildings.
Investigators further established that the arrested woman had previously been convicted twice by a court for arson. The 44-year-old admitted her guilt and voluntarily submitted to punishment. She faces up to five years' imprisonment for destruction of another's property.
