Police arrest 49-year-old suspected of murder in Zagórze
More than 220 police officers searched forests in the Zagórze area. A man suspected of the death of a 73-year-old woman was arrested several hours after the operation began.
Forest complex searches in Zagórze concluded
The arrest of a 49-year-old suspected of murder in Zagórze marked the culmination of an intensive police operation, as described by malopolska.policja.gov.pl. On Tuesday, 6 October, around 11 o'clock, Chrzanów police received a report of the discovery of the body of a 73-year-old woman in a detached house. A family member discovered injuries suggesting the involvement of third parties in her death.
The investigating prosecutor immediately ordered an extensive search apparatus. A search was immediately launched for the woman's son – a 49-year-old who could have been connected to the incident. An alert was issued to all police stations in Chrzanów county as well as stations in Trzebinia, Libiąż and Alwernia.
Extensive mobilisation of forces
The search operation involved more than 220 officers from various units. The operation included police officers from the Police Prevention Department in Kraków, a handler with a tracker dog, drone operators and a police helicopter crew. Forest complexes and areas around Zagórze were searched, where the suspect could have been hiding.
Several hours after the operation began, around 16.00, police officers located and arrested the 49-year-old in one of the forest complexes. The man was taken to hospital for necessary medical tests. After their completion, he was placed in a detention room at the District Police Headquarters in Chrzanów, from where he was to be taken to the District Prosecutor's Office.

The prosecutor's office will investigate the circumstances of the 73-year-old woman's death and the role of the arrested man in this incident. Police thanked residents of Zagórze for their responsible conduct and compliance with the orders issued, which enabled the smooth conduct of the operation.
