Charges filed following assault at petrol station in Będzin

According to RMF24, the prosecutor's office has brought charges against two police officers from Silesia in connection with an incident that occurred in autumn of last year at a petrol station in Będzin. The officers will face trial for assaulting a man and forcing him to leave his vehicle.

At the time, the driver was making uncoordinated and unusual movements, which caught the attention of witnesses and police officers — the latter were at the scene during their off-duty time. The man tried to explain to the officers that he was ill, but the intervention proceeded nonetheless. A third police officer allegedly assisted his colleagues and threatened the witness to the incident.

None of the accused officers admitted guilt. However, the commander of the unit in Będzin suspended them from their duties.

The Silesian police presented their own account of events in November 2025. According to a statement issued at that time, the driver's psychophysical condition caused concern among both witnesses and police officers, who feared the man might be under the influence of intoxicating substances. "The man resisted during an attempt to remove him from the vehicle and take his keys, which was necessary to prevent him from continuing to drive," the police document states.

The final decision in the case now rests with the court.
