41-year-old wanted man detained in Strzyżów by community officer
A community officer from the Police Headquarters in Strzyżów detained a wanted man during an inspection of alcohol sales points. The 41-year-old will serve six months in prison.
Nervous behaviour gave away the wanted man
According to Google News PL — Crime (pl), a community officer from the County Police Headquarters in Strzyżów detained a 41-year-old resident of the town against whom a custodial sentence had been passed. The incident occurred during a patrol shift focused on inspecting alcohol sales and serving points in the Strzyżów municipality.
The police officer inspected commercial and catering establishments to verify compliance with regulations under the Act on Education in Sobriety and Combating Alcoholism. The verification covered, among other things, required information about the harmful effects of alcohol consumption.
In front of one of the shops, the uniformed officer noticed a man who began behaving nervously at the sight of a police car. The community officer, having information about a possible whereabouts of wanted persons, quickly connected the facts.
After verifying the man's identity, it turned out that the 41-year-old appeared in police databases as wanted — he was subject to a final court sentence of 6 months' imprisonment. The man was detained on the spot and placed in a correctional facility, where he will spend the next six months.
The intervention demonstrates that routine preventive activities carried out by community officers — involving regular contact with residents and monitoring of the area — can directly lead to the realisation of the Police's fundamental tasks in the enforcement of court sentences.
