Triple murder in Skawina: police officer reveals details of crime
A 35-year-old Mateusz G. killed his wife, mother-in-law and eight-day-old child, then took his own life. Investigators revealed autopsy results and found the murder weapon.
Skawina: officer describes "exceptionally bloody" crime scene
According to Google News PL, 35-year-old Mateusz G. is believed to have murdered his 27-year-old wife Gabriela, his 59-year-old mother-in-law Zofia and an eight-day-old infant, before taking his own life. An officer familiar with the investigation's details described the incident to Gazeta Wyborcza as "a completely irrational crime" — adding that the scene was "exceptionally bloody".
The bodies of four people were discovered in one of the flats in Skawina. The 35-year-old man's remains were found in the bathroom; 27-year-old Gabriela, her mother and the child lay in the bedroom. The alarm was raised by the murdered woman's father, who had been unable to reach the family for an extended period. He had previously brought his wife to the flat to help his daughter — she had just returned from hospital after giving birth by caesarean section.
Autopsy results
On Monday 6 July, the prosecutor's office released preliminary autopsy results for all the victims. Both women and the child were found to have stab and cut wounds. The 59-year-old Zofia also suffered head injuries. On the body of the 35-year-old man, only cut wounds were visible. Investigators are still awaiting the results of toxicological tests, which are to determine whether Mateusz G. was under the influence of alcohol or narcotics at the time of the crime.
Family with no history of police intervention
According to Radio Kraków's findings, the family had recently moved to Skawina from Wadowice. Police recorded no previous interventions involving the family. "A normal guy, a good friend. At work he was considered a good employee," a person familiar with the investigation's progress told Gazeta Wyborcza.
Police officers and firefighters working at the scene have been provided with special psychological care — reports Radio Kraków.
