In Turki County, police officers from Łódź shut down an improvised laboratory producing intoxicating substances. The operation was conducted on 29 May.

Investigators identified a 34-year-old man suspected of producing banned substances. When he appeared in front of his home, officers proceeded with intervention. The man offered no resistance and showed the law enforcement officials a garage that he had been using as a workshop for manufacturing amphetamine.

The operation involved officers from the police headquarters in Turek and experts from the criminology laboratory in Poznań. Equipment and chemicals were seized.

During the investigation, it emerged that a 37-year-old man from the same region may also be involved in the illegal operation. During surveillance of the property, the suspect arrived at the location. At first, he denied possessing any drugs, but a search of his flat and car revealed a different picture.

Officers found in his possession over 1.7 kg of substance under legal control, 44 ecstasy tablets, and cash totalling over 93,000 zł.

Both detained men have been charged with trafficking and production of psychoactive substances. The older of the two men faces up to twenty years in prison for production. The younger man could receive up to 12 years for participation in trafficking. By court decision, both men are in remand custody.
