Building foreman abused Ukrainians, company dismissed him

According to wiadomosci.gazeta.pl, the incident occurred on Friday in a production hall near Skawina in Małopolskie Voivodeship. Video footage shows a man in a hard hat and protective vest using vulgar language towards Ukrainian workers.

— Go to the front, you bastards. You clever bastards, you fucking idiots. You fucking Ukrainian bastards — the man shouted. — Putin is waiting for you — he added. At the end of the footage, he approached the person filming and attempted to take their phone. — Don't film me, or I'll beat the shit out of you — he said.

A day after the incident, two Ukrainian workers filed a complaint at the Skawina police station regarding criminal threats. Małopolskie Police spokeswoman deputy superintendent Katarzyna Cisło informed on Tuesday that after viewing the footage, officers decided to expand the investigation — it will also be conducted in the direction of discrimination on ethnic grounds. The evidence collected is to be passed to the prosecutor's office. The man's identity is known to police, but he has not been detained so far.

Grupa Stadnicki, the company for which the man worked, issued a statement. "This person no longer represents our company in any capacity. At the same time, we express deep regret that such a drastic incident occurred" — wrote the management. The company emphasised that "no emotions or professional disputes can justify physical aggression" and that the man's behaviour "was his completely private, unauthorised action".

Beating of Ukrainians in Wrocław: two suspects charged

A separate incident with ethnic undertones occurred on Sunday on Okulickiego Street in Wrocław. The victims of the assault were a 20-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man, both of Ukrainian nationality. Video footage published on social media shows three men brutally attacking the Ukrainian and his partner, who attempts to defend him.

Senior sergeant Aleksandra Freus, spokeswoman for the Municipal Police Command in Wrocław, stated that the incident was triggered by an argument in a shop queue, after which the attackers assaulted the Ukrainian on the street. The incident appears to have a motive of aggression based on ethnic grounds — she added.

Both injured parties were taken to hospital by an ambulance team. From published photographs, it appears the woman required stitches to an ear wound.

The suspects Tomasz M. (27 years old) and Adam C. (45 years old) were arrested on Monday evening. Wyborcza.pl established that Adam C., aka Cycu, is a gangster with convictions and a boxer associated with the Gromda federation — a fact confirmed by prosecutor Jakub Dłubacz. Police are still searching for the third perpetrator.

On Tuesday, both men were brought to the District Prosecutor's Office for Wrocław-Psie Pole. They were informed of charges including assault and the use of violence on grounds of ethnic affiliation; the act was classified as an offence of a hooliganism nature. Adam C. will additionally answer for acting in circumstances of recidivism. The prosecutor's office is announcing requests for remand in custody for both suspects.

— They did not admit guilt. Tomasz M. provided a statement, while Adam C. refused to do so — PAP was informed by the spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Wrocław, prosecutor Jakub Dłubacz. Tomasz M. faces up to 5 years in prison, Adam C. up to 7.5 years.

Prime Minister Tusk on the political dimension of violence

Prime Minister Donald Tusk addressed both cases before Tuesday's Cabinet meeting. — We must declare war on violence and hatred. Bandits, hooligans, this pattern of violence has become emboldened, because it has also received political patronage — said the head of government.

Tusk addressed President Karol Nawrocki directly. — I am appealing directly to the President to stop remaining silent on this matter. He praised fighting very much as masculine combat, even noble. So I ask you to see what this noble combat looks like when carried out by people from GROMDA — said the Prime Minister.
