Fire at WB Electronics facility – Suspicions of foreign intelligence agents

Poland's prosecutor's office has ordered an official investigation into the cause of a fire that broke out at a military drone manufacturing facility, according to Newsit.gr. Polish authorities have not ruled out the possibility of a terrorist act carried out on behalf of foreign intelligence services.

The fire broke out during the night of Sunday 30 August 2026 into Monday at the facilities of WB Electronics, in the town of Skarżysko-Kamienna, approximately 150 kilometres south of Warsaw. The fire was brought under control with no reported injuries, according to a police spokesperson quoted in the newspaper Fakt.

The same spokesperson confirmed that agents from the Internal Security Agency (ABW) investigated the site, though clarifying that it is still premature to confirm with certainty whether sabotage is involved.

According to radio station RMF FM, security camera footage shows a hooded intruder carrying a rucksack who is suspected of setting fire to the facilities from inside them.

The Polish government has repeatedly accused the intelligence services of Russia and Belarus of sending agents to carry out acts of sabotage on Polish territory. Poland actively supports Ukraine in its war with Russia, whilst simultaneously strengthening its own military capabilities.
