A resident of Gorlice County got behind the wheel of a BMW with more than 0.5 per mille of alcohol in his system and an active court sentence prohibiting him from driving vehicles. During the journey, he ended up on the opposite lane, where he collided with a Volkswagen, and then struck a property fence.

The incident occurred on 3 June in Biała Niżna near Grybów. A 26-year-old driving the BMW found himself on the wrong side of the road, causing a collision with a Volkswagen. The car then drove into the fence of a neighbouring property. The entire incident occurred without any injuries.

Officers at the scene tested the man with a breathalyser. The result showed more than 0.5 per mille of alcohol in his breath. Police systems additionally showed that the perpetrator had an active ban on driving mechanical vehicles issued by a court and had previously been punished for an identical offence.

After sobering up, the detainee was charged with driving under the influence under conditions of repeated commission of a crime while under a sentence prohibiting him from driving vehicles. This offence carries a sentence of up to 5 years in prison. He will also be held accountable for causing a minor traffic accident.
