Appeals Court in Katowice upheld 15-year prison sentence for multiple rapes of a minor
The Appeals Court in Katowice upheld a 15-year prison sentence for the perpetrator who abused a minor girl over four years. The decision is now final — the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Bielsko-Białą announced on Monday.
According to investigators' findings, the man from 2021 to February 2025 repeatedly used physical force to compel the victim, who was under 15 years old, to engage in sexual intercourse and to perform other sexual acts. The indictment in the case was brought to the district court in May of last year by the District Prosecutor's Office in Bielsko-Białą North.
In autumn of last year, the District Court in Bielsko-Białą found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in prison and a 10-year ban on all activities related to the upbringing, treatment and education of minors. The court also issued a restraining order prohibiting him from approaching the victim and ordered compensation to be paid to her.
The defendant's defence attorney filed an appeal, but the higher court in Katowice upheld the original sentence. Throughout the entire proceedings, the perpetrator remained in pre-trial detention.
Małgorzata Moś-Brachowska, spokeswoman for the Bielsko-Białą investigators, conveyed information about the final ruling.
