A parliamentarian from the Civic Coalition has agreed to the removal of immunity in connection with an investigation into him regarding the allocation of flats in Jelenia Góra.

The Wrocław prosecutor's office has been investigating the circumstances of the allocation of flats by the authorities of Jelenia Góra for over two years. During the investigation, evidence was gathered pointing to irregularities in which the current Civic Coalition senator may have been involved.
On Thursday, the head of the prosecutor's office sent a formal request to the chairwoman of the upper chamber of parliament for consent to bring the politician to criminal liability. A representative of the institution informed that the gathered evidence allows for charges of exceeding authority by a person holding public office.
The person in question announced that he would not use the privilege protecting parliamentarians from criminal proceedings. In a statement to the press agency, he emphasised that his innocence would be examined in a standard court procedure. He also noted that the entire matter is already ten years old.
According to investigators' findings, during his time serving as head of the city's self-government in 2016–2018, a specific tenant was allocated a flat without the necessary competitive process. The flat was originally intended to go to the commercial market. Ultimately, the tenant renovated it at his own expense, signed a lease agreement, and then purchased the property with an almost complete reduction in price.
Investigators determined that such conduct exposed the municipality to losses. They accuse the former president of acting in concert with other participants in the procedure, seeking to obtain financial benefits for these persons. If found guilty, he faces a custodial sentence of up to a decade.
As part of this same case, eight other suspects have already received an indictment, including five municipal office employees. Their case was referred to the consideration of the judiciary in October of last year.
