False advertisements for construction machinery – seven arrests in Silesia
According to RMF24, the investigation is being conducted under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office Gliwice-Wschód in Gliwice. During the operation, officers carried out 20 searches across Silesia and other voivodeships.
Members of the group posted fake advertisements for the sale of construction machinery – excavators, forklifts and tractors – on a popular online portal. Victims, convinced of the authenticity of the offers, transferred money to the specified accounts.
The defrauded funds were subsequently withdrawn from cash machines or transferred between various bank accounts, and finally deposited into cryptocurrency accounts – a measure intended to hinder their detection and securing by the authorities. The group's activities lasted at least since November 2025, according to the Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime (CBZC).
During the searches, officers secured cash, banking documentation, bank cards and electronic devices and mobile phones. Bank accounts belonging to the suspects were also blocked.
All seven detainees were charged with participation in an organised criminal group, money laundering and fraud. All were remanded into custody. They face sentences of up to 10 years' imprisonment.
