A 41-year-old woman died during the night between Saturday and Sunday in Skorogoszczy. Her 47-year-old husband, married that same day, was detained by police.

According to wydarzenia.interia.pl, on Sunday after 4 a.m., officers from the County Police Headquarters in Brzeg received a report of a domestic disturbance in Skorogoszczy, a town located approximately 20 km from Opole. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the body of a 41-year-old woman.
In connection with the case, a 47-year-old husband of the deceased was detained. Over the following hours, officers, under the supervision of the prosecutor, conducted investigative activities at the scene. Traces and evidence were secured, as well as tools that could have been used to commit the murder – according to a statement from the headquarters.
"The gathered materials and witness testimony will determine further actions with the detained man," police said. The prosecutor decided to secure the body for post-mortem examination.
According to unofficial information from the newspaper "Fakt", based on conversations with neighbours, the couple had been together for many years, and on Saturday – the day of the tragedy – they married at the Civil Registry Office. Neighbours reported that after the ceremony the couple returned home with a few guests, and the reception was held in the garden.
Residents of the street described that loud quarrels regularly occurred in the home. One neighbour pointed to the man's addiction: "The neighbour drank regularly. There were times when he didn't stay sober for a week. There would be arguments, sometimes several times a day," he said. Another neighbour, however, noted that the situation seemed to have improved recently, and the wedding was meant to be a modest, family celebration. "They had two growing children," she added.
This same neighbour reported that a quarrel had already occurred on Saturday morning before the couple went to the registry office. After returning, a wedding reception was organised in the garden. "The tables are still set even now," she said.
Reports of alleged previous police interventions at the home were denied by the press officer of the County Police Headquarters in Brzeg, senior aspirant Patrycja Kaszuba. "I must deny this – there were no interventions there. The first report and first intervention was yesterday morning; we checked the police systems," she said.
Prosecutor Agnieszka Bucheld from the District Prosecutor's Office in Brzeg, who is conducting the investigation, informed Radio Opole that, in light of the interests of the proceedings, she is not providing any information about the case at this time. At the time of the incident, two children were present in the home, and they are now in the care of relatives.
